Our Commitment to Protecting Privacy and Personal Information
Marina Coast Water District (MCWD ) is committed to protecting personal privacy and the personal information collected via its website. All information you provide to us electronically is kept confidential and will not be applied in ways to which you have not consented.
Encryption and Personal Information
MCWD protects data transmission with transaction cryptography. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result – though we strive to protect your personal information – we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to or from our website. We will not sell or disclose any information identifying you to a third party.
External users can visit the official MCWD website without revealing any personal information. If you choose to provide us with any personal information, then it will only be used by the District to conduct oficial business. Personal information obtained through the MCWD website will not be disseminated to any unaffiliated third party except as required by law.
Collection and Retention of Payment Information
MCWD processes all online payments through a Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI-DSS) compliant third-party vendor and does not store or retain credit/debit card details internally. Payments may be made for deposits (new accounts), bill payments, and plan reviews.
To facilitate transactions, MCWD collects contact details (name, email, mailing address) and financial details (credit/debit card number and expiration date), which are processed securely by third-party vendors using transaction cryptography in compliance with regulatory and industry standards.
MCWD does not use, share, or store financial information for secondary purposes, except as required by the California Public Records Act and other applicable laws. Payment-related data, excluding card details, is securely retained in MCWD's encrypted billing system for historical and operational needs, with access restricted to authorized personnel. MCWD does not sell or share payment information except as required to complete transactions or comply with legal obligations.
